“Nearly every solution on the market leverages the end user’s smartphone as the device they can use on the go or at home to access a live feed of their front door via their doorbell camera, or to access stored video clips and take snapshots. Additionally, the familiarity of homeowners being able to access their security and smart home systems via their phone makes video doorbell cameras a natural extension or additional layer to those solutions. ”The novelty of the technology means there isn’t a long history of tried and true methods to sell them, but as Stone sees it, there are two main ways dealers and integrators can offer video doorbells. First, they can sell the doorbell as the starting point to introduce smart home technology that the consumer uses frequently. “The consumer will be amazed at the simplicity of answering their smartphone to see and talk with visitors at their front door,” Stone says. Second, the video doorbell is an excellent add on to any security or home automation system. “As a dealer that may be selling a system with monitoring and/or maintenance, adding the video doorbell may turn out to be just a few more dollars per month for the consumer. So it’s a good win win for everyone. ”Jeff Neilson, manager, purchasing and planning, AVAD, Scottsdale, Ariz. , says dealers and integrators can close the deal on video doorbells by demonstrating an immediate improvement to a customer’s ability to monitor and control their home, especially by integrating a video doorbell with other connected home devices. “By creating one versatile ecosystem, the homeowner instantly understands the capabilities and they’ll become hooked,” he says.

In some implementations, the one or more streams may include multiple streams, of respective resolutions and/or frame rates, of the raw video captured by the camera 118 or 106. In some implementations, the multiple streams may include a “primary” stream with a certain resolution and frame rate, corresponding to the raw video captured by the camera 118 or 106, and one or more additional streams. An additional stream may be the same video stream as the “primary” stream but at a different resolution and/or frame rate, or a stream that captures a portion of the “primary” stream e. g. , cropped to include a portion of the field of view or pixels of the primary stream at the same or different resolution and/or frame rate as the “primary” stream. In some implementations, one or more of the streams are sent from the video source 222 directly to a client device 220 e. g. , without being routed to, or processed by, the server system 164. In some implementations, one or more of the streams is stored at the camera 118 or 106 e. g. , in memory 406, FIG.

The device glows a nice LED color right on the button itself and on the top. For those of you who love to change the look of things, this LED color is fully customizable via the SkyBell HD app so the kiddos in the family like to make it match the current holiday!Picture/Audio QualityThe picture and audio quality on this device far surpasses anything else I have used/tested. The camera is 1080p which compared to past generations of the SkyBell and the Ring HD, this product is so much better. The closest runner up would be the 720p Ring. The picture itself is very impressive, I have showed friends and co workers my porch from the app and they have been blown away. You can even pinch zoom while watching the video. If the WiFi signal degrades, the picture quality seems to scale in my experience this normally happens when my toddler gets hold of the router antenna, which is a quick fix haha. As far as audio quality, I have never had any issue understanding anyone at the door using this device. Each SkyBell in the app has the ability to control speaker volume in case you find that it is too loud or if you live in close proximity to other neighbors, it is easy to decrease. I was skeptical that the picture was 180 degrees but it really does hit the entire porch from wall to wall, it is amazing the angle this little device captures. As far as night vision, this is some of the best night vision video I have seen, it is in fact in full color and you never have to adjust the camera for day vs night, it just handles it all automatically.
